Current source inverters (CSIs) use inductors as the major component to store energy. Compared with voltage (VSIs), CSIs have two advantages: 1. They can avoid converter failure caused by capacitor failures, and 2. The load current does not increase mutation or even short-circuit failure. Therefore, be a promising technology for EV charging. However, waveforms, parameter design procedure, power efficiency are still unclear. it is unclear if suitable chargers. This article derives closed-loop equations of critical components, including inductor waveforms ripple. Especially, over-voltage phenomenon derived verified further ensure reliability CSI system. Based on requirements, procedure proposed. both Si- SiC-based converters compared remove barrier applying in chargers industry.
